Somali MP wounded in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (InsideSomalia.org) Botan Issa Alim, member of the Somali parliament was wounded overnight in Mogadishu.

Botan was attacked by unknown gun men who hailed a hand him into his house at Bulo Hubey neighborhood in the south of the capital before fleeing from the scene.

The MP was in his home during receiving abdominal injury, said a doctor at Madina Hospital in Mogadishu.

Botan Isse was a member of a defeated political and military alliance comprising of former warlords who fought against Union of Islamic Courts in Mogadishu in 2006.

Reports said the MP who is now on a stable condition is the first Somali legislator attacked in the chaotic capital of Mogadishu.

On the other hand , the acting speaker of Banadir regional, Abbas Nur Galleyr was shot died by four armed men in Hamarwein district in Mogadishu overnight, said Abdullaahi Ibrahim Gardhub, Hamarwein district commissioner.

Abbas was replaced temporarily the former speaker of the mayor of Mogadishu Mohamed Mohaydin Ali who was shot died on December 2007.
